We all care about the environment; looking for ways to minimize our impact on this planet is a challenge we all face. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that one kilowatt-hour (kWh) produces 1.52 pounds of carbon dioxide; when you add the line losses expected with transmission (around 7.5%) and consider overall grid capacity requirements, you can see how even a small reduction in energy consumption can have a big impact on the environment.

There’s no easier way to quickly reduce energy consumption than to install a POWER FACTOR correction device. It’s estimated, for each kVAR of POWER FACTOR correction, 300 lbs of CO2 emissions are eliminated each year.  When a typical PFC installation involves a few hundred to a thousand or more kVARs, in only a few short years, the lowered demand on the electrical grid can account for hundreds of tons of reduced carbon production.
