The Tier 400RMS-PMK is Southern Tier Technologies’ solution for the need to monitor the health of your surge protection equipment when it is installed inside of a cabinet, or obscured from view.

 

This Remote Monitoring System comes as a Panel Mount Kit, to install into the face of a panel. The PMK comes with the RMS enclosure with integrated external mounting feet, a waterproof overlay, PEMs & nuts as mounting hardware, and interior & exterior drilling templates. Installation requires drilling four holes in the panel of the object you would like the RMS mounted in, and securely attaching it with the provided hardware, then aligning and attaching the overlay.

 

After the unit is securely attached, you only need to connect the Form C relay to those in the units you wish to monitor, it is capable of monitoring multiple units simultaneously. After the relays are connected, you simply plug the power cable into a standard 120V outlet and your RMS is installation is complete and the unit is operational. There is a push to test button that ensures the function of all indication, including the audible alarm.

 

The RMS will indicate with the alarm sounding, the “Service Required” red LED will turn on, and the “Optimal” green LED will turn off when there is a failure in any phase, of any unit, it is monitoring.

The unit will continue to indicate module failure until either the problem is rectified, the relays are disconnected, or the RMS unit power is disconnected.

 

The RMS has a simple interface, this allows the unit to be small, inexpensive, and extremely versatile. While it can not tell you specifically which unit or phase has failed, it can monitor for failure in multiple surge units, or any device with a Form C relay. All indication on the monitored device will still be active and easily indicate which unit or phase has specifically failed, upon further investigation.

 

When a job requires a remote monitor, this unit ensures the panel remains watertight, has no protrusions on the exterior, and provides all necessary indication required of a remote monitor.
